Cross-Country Ski & Snowshoe Rental, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, When there is four inches or more of snow on the ground at The Morton Arboretum, trails are available to cross-country ski or snowshoe. Daily, December through mid-March. Weekdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Weekends, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last rental 3 p.m.

Semi-Annual Clearance Sale, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Shop at The Arboretum Store’s semi-annual clearance sale. Daily, Tuesday, January 2 through Sunday, January 21, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Shoppers can get great deals on holiday merchandise, home décor, clothing, books, jewelry, and more. Shop early for the best selection of merchandise at discounts of up to 60 percent. Members receive a 10 percent discount on top of sale prices. Membership card is required for member discount.

Enchanted Railroad at the Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Sunday, January 14 through Monday, February 19. Weekdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Weekends, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All aboard! Marvel at a world of tiny enchantment! Watch an intricate miniature model railroad wind through four seasons of magnificent scenery that the whole family can enjoy. The trains run at a child-friendly height to thrill even the littlest fan. Get free, timed tickets at the Visitor Center Information Desk.

Cinderella performed by the Russian Festival Ballet, McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, Sunday, January 14. Founded by legendary Bolshoi Ballet principal dancer Sergei Radchenko, Moscow Festival Ballet is steeped in classical Russian technique and grandeur. More than 50 of the company’s highly skilled dancers will grace the stage in Prokofiev’s lavish, highly entertaining full-length ballet, Cinderella, one of the most beloved stories of all time. Winter Wine Walk, Downtown Wheaton, Saturday, January 20, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sip, stroll and shop your way through downtown Wheaton while tasting fine wines. Your wine tasting begins at the Downtown Wheaton Association offices at 108 Wesley Street, where you check in, pick up your wine glass and swag bag along with a walking map to all the tasting locations! You will enjoy twelve 1oz tastings in your souvenir wine glass and coupons from various downtown merchants. Husky Heroes at the Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Sunday, Thursday, February 1, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. See Siberian husky sled pulling, skijoring, and speed demonstrations. Visit with the dogs and sled team, inspect the equipment, and have your photo taken with the rig during this yearly event. Attendees are asked to please leave pets at home. Nature at Night Hike at the Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Sunday, Thursday, February 1, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Discover what happens at the Arboretum at night when no one is around. With the moon shining through the trees and reflecting off the snow, a winter evening reveals a captivating symphony of sounds and mysterious spaces as we hope to spot wildlife darting through the darkness. During our hike we will find out how animals are adapted for the night and enjoy the magic of hiking through the silent woods. The hike will end with a warm fire and s’mores. Fees are $10 for members and $20 for non-members. More here.
